What is the Burlington Chamber of Commerce?

The Burlington Chamber is a member based not-for-profit and we work to improve the local economy by helping businesses grow. We provide value to our members through Active Advocacy, Connecting Leaders and Creating Opportunity. For more than 75 years, the Chamber is the voice of business in Burlington and advocates for our members at the local, regional, provincial, and federal levels.

 

Why should I join the Chamber?

We promote, advocate for, and create opportunities for economic growth and prosperity of local businesses and thus, provide our members with the means to continue to invest in our community.

Is there a fee for Chamber Membership?

Membership dues correlate to the number of full-time employees you have, if you are a for-profit or a not-for-profit business, if you are Burlington based or are out of town, or if you are retired or a student. Oh, and one more benefit to tell you- Chamber dues are tax deductible as a business expense!

Who are the members of the Chamber?

Our members range from single entrepreneurs to corporations with over 1,000 employees. We have members who are start-ups, have been in business for decades or somewhere in between. Businesses are in all sectors such as health services, community organizations, transportation, retail, dining, manufacturers, accommodations, and many more. If you’re looking for advice on how to grow your business, not only can the knowledgeable staff at the Chamber help you, but meeting and connecting with other Chamber members can be extremely valuable. All staff are available to support you on your business journey.

 

Is the Chamber just for large businesses?

Not at all. In fact, small businesses make up more than 75% of our membership! The Chamber represents ALL SIZES of companies in ALL SECTORS.

 

Does my business have to be located in Burlington to become a member?

No, your business does not need to be located in Burlington. There are many members who are outside of our territory as they do business in, or want to do business in, Burlington. We encourage businesses to join multiple chambers if that suits your business needs.

 

Can my employees take advantage of Chamber benefits too?

Yes, absolutely! As an added value, ALL of your employees are considered Chamber members and can take full advantage of our programs and services.

 

Does the Burlington Chamber offer a listing of their whole membership?

The Burlington Chamber has a Member Directory on its website that consists of the entire membership. Physical or digital copies are no longer available.

 

How can I get more involved in Chamber activities, and gain exposure through the Chamber?

Get active as there are many great ways to get exposure from the Chamber. The Chamber is about meeting new people and building relationships for you and your business.

Have a look at the following ways to get involved:

• Make a goal to attend at least one networking event per month. Several are free for our members, such as Business After Fives and Learning Series. Remember to include bringing your staff.

• Make sure to attend one of our Orientation sessions to ensure you know about ALL of the benefits of joining the chamber; although we have amazing events, it’s not all we do.

• Consider sponsoring an event and expose your brand to hundreds of new eyes.

• Promote your brand effectively through our online Member Directory and consider offering a special ‘Member To Member’ discount to your fellow members. Make sure you maximize your content on our webpage for your company; you will gain log in access to add your logo, more information about your business, photos and more!!

• Join a Committee or Task Force.

• Take the opportunity to attend a signature event and hear from inspirational speakers, and informed decision makers.

• Tag the Chamber’s social media channels so we can help to like and share your posts.

• Remember the Chamber is now your biggest business resource, so ensure you take advantage of our connections and know-how.

 

How can I update my company listing or add representatives?

Remember to maximize your listing on our website! Add your logo, pertinent info about your company, photos, video content, and more!! You can update your company’s information by accessing the member’s area on our website. Here is a short video on how to access the portal. I’m not a member; am I able to use any of the benefits listed on the website or receive your newsletter?

Anyone can apply to receive our weekly newsletter to stay up to date on all of our local business news. However, all the benefits listed on the Burlington Chamber website are an exclusive Burlington Chamber Member benefit. How do I join the Burlington Chamber of Commerce?

You can easily complete a membership application online. Once received we will send you a confirmation and onboarding email for next steps. We look forward to you becoming part of our business community.

How can I find out if a business is a Chamber member?

It’s easy! You can search our online business directory. We love when fellow members seek out other local members to do business within our local business community! We can’t stress enough the importance to invest in your local economy and shop local whenever possible.
