Mayor’s Community Service Awards
For the Mayor’s Awards, nominees will be considered on the basis of criteria that show how they contribute to Burlington quality of life, making Burlington a better place in which to live and work. 2014 BURLINGTON BUSINESS AWARDS GALA

The Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Gala was held on April 10, 2014 at the Burlington Convention Centre. In addition to the Chamber's Business Excellence Awards, the Gala also featured the presentation of the Burlington Economic Development Corporation Business Exports Award and Mayor Rick Goldring's Community Service Awards. It was a glamorous and exciting occasion.

The Chamber named 17 local organizations as award finalists in a variety of categories. Award nominations are based on overall business excellence and the criteria include excellence in business leadership, community contributions, entrepreneurship, environment, employee welfare, innovation, and market growth.

“The Chamber was faced with some very tough decisions to pick award recipients this year as we had over 70 nominations submitted,” said MacKinnon.  “There were several extremely impressive organizations that were nominated and with so many exceptional businesses operating in Burlington that it becomes increasingly difficult to single out a winner.  Each year the review process becomes more rigorous proving just how tough it is to win these awards.”

The Chamber's Business Awards Task Force goes through a very thorough process to select finalists and, ultimately, winners.  Through this process they sometimes find that in some categories there are no nominated companies that are ‘award-worthy’.  This speaks not only to the integrity of the process, but to the high calibre of the finalists and the winning companies.

“We were especially pleased to present the Young Entrepreneur award this year,” continued MacKinnon.  “We have presented this award in the past, however last year we did not.  This award is important as it recognizes the great achievements of young professionals and the calibre of up-and-coming business leaders in Burlington.”
