ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE MANAGEMENT - A SALE ISN'T A SALE UNTIL THE MONEY IS PAID

This seminar will educate small and medium enterprise owners on the fundamentals of credit granting and the management of the accounts receivable (ARM). The basics processes and best practices of ARM are:

·          Set credit policies. Credit terms need to be clearly spelled out for your customers. Terms should include when accounts are to be paid, what late fees are and the process for returns or dispute resolution.

·          Have your customers sign a simple contract that reflects the terms of the above agreement.

·          Perform credit checks on new customers through the credit bureau or other credit reporting agencies and have them agree to this credit check in your contract.

·          Keep a close eye on your receivables and when one of your customers reaches term and hasn’t paid reach out (letters or phone calls) to them and find out why.

·          It’s your money.  Go and get it.  No apologies are necessary.

EXPERIMENT, IMPROVE AND GET MONEY FOR IT

To survive in any industry today, your business must be innovative and resourceful. Even the slightest improvements to your products or processes could be vital to your business' survival. The problem: Your added costs to experiment and develop are difficult to digest. Spend lunch with us and learn about the SR&ED (Scientific Research & Experimental Development) Tax Credit Program. It encourages individuals and small-medium sized business like yours to experiment and improve industry benchmarks here in Canada, by providing attractive tax refunds on every dollar spent on R&D. Even minimal improvements to a product or process could be eligible. Too often businesses who qualify for these tax credits leave money on the table simply because they do not know that the program exists, they don't think their work would qualify or they feel that the process is too time-consuming and confusing. No matter how small your business is, if you have eligible projects, you may qualify. Educate yourself on the subject, and learn if your business could benefit from the SR&ED Tax Credit Program. And, don't forget to bring your business-specific questions.
