More Economic Slowdown Indicators
Released
According to a recent Ipsos-Reid poll 63% of business people feel the
economy will slow down in 2008. Burlington business people are more
optimistic; only 13% percent feel the economy will slow
down. The results
of this Burlington Chamber survey have been given to our Economic
Forecast panellists. Hear first hand from an RBC Economist and a

Dealing With Family
Day
Over the last few days the Chamber office received several inquires
about how companies are planning on dealing with the new statutory
holiday, Family Day. To help answer these questions, the Chamber
surveyed its member to find out their plans. 321 people completed the
survey. 70% of
companies are treating it
as an additional holiday with no other changes. Click here

Input Into City
Budget
The City is encouraging the public to have input into its capital and
operating budgets. A series of public open houses have been set up
from January 21 to 24. Click here for
details. The budget is expected to be finalized by March 17 and
the Chamber has arranged for Mayor Cam Jackson to answer questions from
the business community at our Business
Forum on March 20.

celebrated the contributions small business in Burlington. At that
celebration Bell made a donation of $32,000 to United Way. Every October, Bell employees have a special
fundraising campaign and funds are matched by the
